For my turn to host Man’s Dinner I chose Pegasus, a Greek restaurant in Altadore, SW Calgary. I arranged for us to have a classic greek feast giving us a wide variety of dishes. We were seated on Pegasus’ comfortable outdoor patio.
We started the meal with Hummus, Tsatsiki, and Taramasalata, a pink caviar, olive oil, and herbs, whipped into a creamy dip, served with Pegasus’ unique in-house recipe pita bread. Next came Kalamari and then came a Spanakopita of spinach, feta, herbs and spices wrapped in phyllio pastry and oven baked. An excellent start to a great night, we opted for bottles of house red and white wine.
We then continued on with Keftethes which are beef Greek-style meatballs served with lemon, red onion and tzatziki for dipping and then classic Greek Salad.
Our main course was another man’s dinner carnivore’s delight which began with grilled chicken and Pegasus’ signature dish Kleftiko a flavorful slow-roasted shoulder of lamb and slow-roasted lemon potatoes.
To close the meal we were served Baklava, a cold phyllio pastry mixed with walnuts and almonds with sweet honey sauce and espressos. Takis treated us to a round of Ouzo. The staff, ambience and food was an experience to remember. We look forward to many meals in the future.
