After a hectic summer, we all got together for another eventful dinner. As the newest addition to the group, I was given the task of choosing our next destination. Without hesitation, I decided to honour the beauty of my home-country Brazil by bringing them to a luxurious restaurant; Pampa Brazilian Steak House. With only the best of company, Round 5-Dinner 8 began.
We had 6 out of 10 members at the round table. A small group of mates for this time, but the perfect number to keep the tradition moving forward.
Caipirinhas, Brazil's national cocktail, made with cachaça, sugar, and lime were served to start our dinner in grand style. The menu: A traditional (Churrascaria) Rodizio Dinner with 11 cuts of meat served fresh off the blade of a sword – options including grilled chicken, tender pork, sweet lamb and charred garlic steak. It was a taste sensation. The start of the night, “Picanha” as we do say in Brazil - Rump steak – served rare, medium and well done. Salads and warm side dishes accompanied each and every flavor.
For dessert: a layered cake with passion fruit filling and chocolate mousse. Tropical flavors with a North America spin. As well, the guys tried for the first time, the garnishes of brigadeiro (a simplistic condensed milk and chocolate ball) and beijinho (a ball of condensed coconut). These popular party treats would warm the heart of any Brazillian.
As just when we thought the dinner was over. . .(see picture above)
Besides from that, everybody left with a full stomach, and a few new jokes between each other. That is another one for the books, two more meals left before Round 6 begins!
The best Brazilian Steakhouse in Calgary. Period!
