To kick off the round 4 I decided to host the Dinner at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. While we were missing a few men (Andrew, Kwasi and Mo), we were joined by Jesse's friend Jesse. For this dinner I had pre-selected an assortment of my favorite items that they offer. It's hard to say what came when as it was a constant stream of new meats to grill to our liking. While one side of the table was sending up smoke signals, we had our grilling technique down to a science on our end. Alongside the bombardment of meat, we indulged in some Garlic Noodles and Beef Sukiyaki bimimbap. I designed this dinner to be a carnivores wet dream, which I would say was a definite success.
My personal favorite for the night was the Kobe style Kalbi short ribs, doused in the spicy (but not really) ponzu sauce. Alongside that we had: ribeye steak, harami miso skirt steak, short ribs, hangar steak, beef tongue, yaki-shabu beef, scallops, garlic shrimp, duck breast, filet mignon, pork belly, and kalib chuck short rib. With such a wide assortment there was guaranteed to be something for everyone, and with healthy portions everyone left satisfied.
If you're in the mood to bbq, and don't feel like standing outside then this is the spot for you. High quality meat and reasonable prices, especially during their happy hour, you can't go wrong with Gyu-kaku.
